Coastal seclusion
The Watch House
The Watch House is not for everyone, and that's exactly the point.
This 19th-century coastguard loookout sits on the cliffs near Polruan, on a stretch of coast completely protected by National Trust ownership. It’s completely off-grid (though with mains water) and completely alone. It’s a 20 minute walk from the car park and nearest road (with the help of a wheelbarrow provided). No electricity, no phone signal, no neighbours. What you do get is one of the most spectacular views in Cornwall, a proper log burner, a gas oven & hob, a gas fridge, a flushing loo and an outdoor shower. The kind of place that makes you wonder why you ever thought you needed Wi-Fi.
We manage bookings for the Watch House on behalf of the Trinick family, who have been its custodians for over 60 years. It sleeps up to five, but it's perfect for two - it's one of the most romantic places we know of anywhere.
Please note the Watch House is a separate location from our farm, around six miles away near Polruan. It doesn't have access to the farm facilities.
