Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to bookings for the Shepherd's Hut and Lambing Hut at Treworgey Farm, Duloe, Cornwall, managed by Holly and Andy Kyte (trading as Hideaway Huts). Notes specific to the Watch House are indicated throughout.

 

1. Deposit & Payment

A 50% deposit is required to confirm your booking. The balance is due 6 weeks before your arrival date. If you book within 6 weeks of your stay, full payment i

s required at the time of booking.VAT is not charged on any Hideaway Huts stay.

 

2. Arrival & Departure

Please let us know in advance if you expect to arrive significantly later than your check-in time. Please vacate promptly to allow our cleaner to prepare for the next guests. Check in times are shown on the website and in your arrival information.

 

3. Cancellation

If you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible. We will do our best to re-let the property. If we successfully re-let, we will refund your deposit less any costs incurred (advertising, admin, or any shortfall in the re-let price). If we are unable to re-let, all payments remain due in full. We strongly recommend taking out holiday cancellation insurance — see section 4.

 

4. Insurance

We strongly recommend arranging holiday cancellation insurance. Suitable policies are available from:

You are welcome to use your own insurer.

 

5. Pets

One well-behaved dog is welcome at all three properties, subject to prior arrangement. Please ensure your dog is never left alone in the property, never allowed on beds or furniture, and is kept under control at all times. A applies to cover additional cleaning – please see current pricing page. We put throws on the furniture when pets are expected and launder them between stays to protect guests with allergies.

This is a working farm with sheep, cattle and horses — dogs must be kept on leads in and around the farm at all times. Please do not allow dogs out unsupervised.

 

6. Children

Children are very welcome. Up to two children may camp alongside either shepherd's hut in a single tent – please see current pricing page for charges.  These includes use of all hut facilities and towels for the shower. Please note the huts are raised approximately 1 metre from the ground, contain a log burner, and are set in an unsurfaced field — they are not suitable for babies or toddlers. Please ask if you have any questions.

 

7. Log Burner & Firepit

An initial supply of kindling, matches, firelighters and logs is provided on arrival. Additional logs are available from the store near the hut. A firepit is also provided for outdoor fires and barbecues (charcoal not included). An adult must be present whenever anything is lit. Please do not burn candles inside the hut.  Logs are provided at the shepherd’s huts and watch house for the log burners.  For other uses (fire pits or the log-fired hot tub), please purchase logs using the honesty box, or bring your own.

 

8. Fire Safety

Due to the wooden construction and rural location of the huts, we ask all guests to observe the following:

•       Be responsible and alert to the risk of fire at all times

•       Do not burn candles inside the hut

•       Do not smoke inside the hut or Watch House; dispose of cigarette ends safely

•       An adult must be present whenever the log burner, gas hob or firepit is in use

•       A fire extinguisher, fire blanket and emergency contact list are provided in the huts

•       Do not put hot ash in the bins

•       Do not light fires near The Watch House – risk of wild fire.

 

9. Electricity & Facilities

The shepherd's huts run on solar power (12v), suitable for lighting and charging small devices (phones and laptops). It is not suitable for hair dryers or other high-draw appliances. The bathroom is a short walk from the hut and is heated by its own log burner. Hot water is provided by gas. The composting loo works just like a standard toilet — please sit down to use it (everyone!). A torch is provided for night-time trips.

Watch House: fully off-grid with no mains electricity and no phone signal. Gas oven and hob provided. Bring a torch.

 

10. Damages

We do not require a damage deposit. We ask that you treat the property with care. In the event of serious or negligent damage, we reserve the right to request payment.

 

11. On the Farm

Treworgey is a working farm. Guests are welcome to explore, but please:

•       Close and latch gates behind you

•       Keep dogs on leads near livestock

•       Approach animals with care — this is done entirely at your own risk

•       Follow the countryside code

 

12. Accessibility

The shepherd's huts are located in an unsurfaced field and are raised approximately 1 metre from the ground. They are not suitable for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility. Please contact us before booking if you have any concerns.

 

13. The Watch House

The Watch House is owned by the Trinick family. Hideaway Huts manages bookings on their behalf. These terms apply to Watch House bookings except where noted. The Watch House is a separate location from Treworgey Farm (approximately 6 miles away) and does not have access to farm facilities. It is a remote, off-grid property accessed on foot — please read the property description carefully before booking.

 

14. Liability

Hideaway Huts takes reasonable care to ensure that all information about its properties is accurate. However, we cannot accept liability for any loss, damage, or injury arising from your stay, except where caused by our negligence. Any third-party services referenced on our website are entirely independent of Hideaway Huts, and we accept no liability for these.

 

15. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

What information we collect

When you make a booking or enquiry, we collect your name, contact details (email address, phone number), and details of your stay. We do not collect payment card details directly — payments are handled securely by our booking system provider.

 

How we use it

We use your information to manage your booking, send you confirmation and pre-arrival information, and respond to enquiries. We do not share your data with third parties except where necessary to fulfil your booking (for example, passing relevant details to our cleaning team).

 

How long we keep it

We retain booking records for up to 6 years for accounting purposes, in line with HMRC requirements. Enquiry data is deleted after 12 months if no booking results.

 

Your rights

You have the right to request a copy of any personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to our use of it. To do so, email stay@hideawayhuts.co.uk.
