Local food delivered to your shepherd’s hut!

[Please note that the meal service is not available for the Watch House. See the bottom of this page for more on food at the Watch House].

Delicious home made light suppers or high tea can be delivered to your hut from on-site Coombe Kitchen most days (see further down for info on cooking in your hut, and for info on eating out, see our Things to Do page).

DELIVERIES – are normally made daily, except Wednesday (Christmas, Boxing & New Years Days), but may vary in Winter. If you want a meal for a Wednesday it can be delivered the day before and kept in your fridge. We aim to deliver your meal by 6pm, or 4.30pm if you have ordered a Cream Tea or Afternoon Tea

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS – We are happy to cater for most special diets – please ‘phone to discuss your needs.

A MEAL FOR YOUR ARRIVAL – You can order a meal to be placed in your fridge on the day of your arrival. Please give us a few days notice as weekends are especially busy.

DURING YOUR HOLIDAY – You can order by 7pm the day before you require your meal although more notice is greatly appreciated. You don’t need to be in, we will leave your meal in your fridge at the Shepherd’s Hut (please leave some space) or for the Lambing Hut, in a cool box near your parking space.

HOW TO PAY – Pop to our office during your stay to pay for your food by cash, card or cheque.  Please make a cheque payable to ‘Coombe Kitchen’. If you prefer to pay by BACs please let us know.

Cooking in the shepherd’s huts

If you wish to cook for yourself there is a store of simple dry goods ready for you to use in your hut, and a folder with simple recipe suggestions using the stove top and gas rings.

Ingredients may include:

Eggs – free range and from our own chickens whenever they are kind enough to lay!, Olive Oil, Salt, Pepper, Herbs and Spices, Milk, Water, Apple juice, Tea, Coffee, Sugar.

You can shop locally for other ingredients at Duloe Community Shop. Our village shop is now run by the community and stocks a good range of provisions as well as excellent local veg, newspapers etc. Please support it! Open Monday – Friday 8am-5pm (shut for lunch 1-3) and Saturday 8am-1pm.  There is a co-op in Looe (3 miles) and a big Morrisons supermarket in Liskeard (6 miles).

Food in the Watch House

The Watch House has a 4 ring gas hob for you to cook during your stay.  You will need to carry all your food supplies along the coast path for eating during your stay, and we ask that you take all food (rubbish or otherwise) away with you when you go.
